LP [national professional-vocational bachelor's degree] Audiovisual Techniques

The objective of this degree course is to prepare students to hold mission–assistant or even mission–head positions in any sector of the audiovisual design and production industry (production agencies, TV and radio broadcasters, interactive app creation studios, cultural businesses, local community authorities).

The training is essentially project outcome-based. Students follow classes directly connected to real-case in-practice pre-production, production and post-production.
Learning is put to practice by producing short fictions, documentaries and commissioned films.
The year includes a 3–5-month internship that is then drafted into an internship report and defended in front of a jury.

For the specialized audiovisual major

Competencies: Hold mission–assistant or even mission–head positions in any sector of the audiovisual design and production industry (production agencies, TV and radio broadcasters, interactive app creation studios, cultural businesses, local community authorities).
Occupations typically include: Assistant director, Scriptwriter, Sound assistant, Sound technician, Sound engineer, Second cameraman, Assistant cameraman, Focus puller, Film editor, Producer, Production assistant, Production coordinator, Location manager.

LP [national professional-vocational bachelor's degree]: Health–Safety–Environment–Quality

The LP [national professional-vocational bachelor's degree] “Health–Safety–Environment–Quality” programme is designed to train up technicians capable of mobilizing the tools and resources needed to devise, deploy and direct a:

 Quality Management System (QMS),

 Environmental Management System (EMS),

 Safety Management System (SMS),

 Integrated Quality–Safety–Environment (QSE) Management System:

Objectives in terms of professional competencies acquirement
The graduate technician is capable of handling the following missions:

Devise and adapt quality management plan, policy and action

Produce, draft and re-update quality procedures and other quality-related documentation and ensure they are compliantly applied

Educate and train staff on quality management policy

Analyze non-conformities, define and recommend corrective action and track that it is effectively deployed

Track and analyze quality data, trend patterns of change, define improvement policy

Provide advisory guidance and technical support to process departments and/or clients (design, development, etc.)

Coordinate, deploy and performance-track a quality assurance–risk management–environmental stewardship system

Run the company’s standards watch, regulatory intelligence and technology scouting

Participate in improving the procedures governing manufacturing processes, production pipelining and production assets

Supervise inspections on raw materials, inputs, semi-finished and finished product

Act as a company ambassador to clients, suppliers and official inspectorates

Lead and coordinate teams of technicians and/or middle managers

Lead and coordinate quality management training


LP [national professional-vocational bachelor's degree]: Business — Marketing and Communication

Business and commerce, both inside the island and out to the national and even international marketplace, is offering more and more opportunities. Over time, in response to business demand and student expectations, the LPC has expanded out to other activity spheres (banking, buildings–infrastructure, transport, tourism, etc.).
Another big pull is that over the last decade, through ties forged through dialogue and partnerships with local businesses and social development organizations, we have learned that business leaders welcome the move towards multi-competency (e.g. a marketing assistant equally competent in communication skills, a PR officer with a solid grounding in business and trade, a dual sales–communication project leader, etc.). The LPC is consequently set to open out into new horizons in 2013 with a new specialized major “Marketing and Communication”.

The objectives of the new LP Business — Marketing and Communication are:

to enable students to acquire a solid broad-based business/marketing management culture and to learn and master the allied management techniques

to groom students for business and sales occupations and for functional positions in business management and leadership.

This training programme is thus geared to enable students to:

acquire the competencies connected to front-office management,

see and understand how marketplaces work at island scale, national scale and international scale,

know how to propose an new-content marketing offer (including an online offer),

better grasp leads and their economic environment. Students will get the opportunity to work with effective tools and assimilate vital marketing techniques needed to gain deep customer understanding and improve business-wide performances,

know how to build a sharp communication plan,

better understand the bridge between marketing and communication,

get IT tools that unlock insider understanding of the web (especially online commerce).


LP [national professional-vocational bachelor's degree]: Entrepreneurship

The University Institute of Technology?Corsica LP [national professional-vocational bachelor's degree] “Entrepreneurship” prepares students to create or reactivate a business and/or to develop new services within established business operations

Course delivery enables students to acquire:
- solid corporate culture
- knowledge of activity sectors
- firm understanding of an organization’s legal, administrative and accounting processes
- learning in management techniques
- communication techniques
- new information technologies
all from theory into practice, through real-world applications: internship, educational-layer projects and professional-layer projects.

Supervised projects and Internships

The supervised project
Enables students to put what they have learnt into practice and to get to grips with group-led project work. This project is led in tight collaboration with a course tutor. The aim is to produce a project focused on food–farming industry issues.

The internship
At least 16 weeks on work placement is a compulsory requirement.
The objectives attached to the work placement are:
•Enable the candidate to gain “direct immersion” in the professional work sphere
•Apply their learned skills in the company

The internship is co-supervised by a course tutor and a professional. The tutor is appointed based on the scope-field of internship to ensure a tight match between the focus of the placement and the competencies of the tutor supervising the student’s work.
Internship learnings are materialized in a written report and defended in front of a jury team that sits professionals alongside tutors.


LP [national professional-vocational bachelor's degree]: Water Resources and Environmental Science

The objective of this degree is to train up front-line supervisors and/or middle management in water management issue to work self-directed and skilled in:
- advising private-sector or institution-layer decision-makers;
- designing projects;
- running complex facilities

The competencies mobilized through this training programme span both a technical strand (technicians team leadership and project design in collaboration with an engineer) and an administrative strand (drafting a budget, implementing regulatory procedures, contract procurement procedures).


LP [national professional-vocational bachelor's degree]: Civil Engineering

As the overarching objective is school-to-work transition into the construction-business, the entire training programme had been devised in these terms:
• The pace of classroom study (1 month in-school/1 month in-work) facilitates efforts to secure apprenticeship training or vocational qualifications agreements.
• The educational team, which counts 70% sector professionals (from Corsica and the mainland), works in cooperation with the island’s leading buildings and infrastructure companies and with Corsica-region local government.
• Locally available business and institutional-layer structures are mobilized to continue to develop the LP Civil Engineering and Construction Work, including building firms, local-département buildings and infrastructure federations, the MEDEF [the biggest French employers’ organization], local government agencies, and more.
• Students are given access to the top-flight educational resources and software solutions at the cutting edge of science, technology and industry.
• The onus is on “project-driven” teaching as the stamp of real-world professional practice.

Skills in demand

LP Civil Engineering and Construction Work graduates majoring in “Low Energy Building Technologies” have acquired the skills needed to:
• run all or part of a reinforced concrete or timber-framed building construction operation.
• identify the legislative landscape (building code, environmental performance and energy efficiency standards) and manage the operation budget.
• firmly control all the technical aspects and propose technological solutions for both the inside habitat structure and the outside building envelope.
• run the people and material involved in the project site.


LP [national professional-vocational bachelor's degree] Renewable Energy

Co-championed by the University Institute of Technology and the science and technology faculty, the LP Energy and Climate Control Engineering major in “Renewable Energies” enables students to:
- acquire a methodological development approach for demand-side management and distributed renewable energy projects;
- acquire the core concepts in demand-side management needed to perform energy audits and diagnostics and propose efficient solutions;
- acquire the technical and budget management skills needed to propose rational energy management solutions;
- acquire the skills needed to devise and deploy quality a management approach in building or industry settings;
- acquire the competencies needed for running a business.


LP [national professional-vocational bachelor's degree]: Banking

The banking sector is facing a scenario it has not had to contend with in over 30 years — a deep replenishment of its staff population.
One in three bank-sector workers are set to retire before 2012, whereas the market for employment in banking-sector careers continues to grow across the board — particularly in retail banking, which carries wide job prospects and accounts for 82% of banking careers.

With a net employment outlook of 9.4%, banks are hiring — forecasts point to around 30,000 new recruitments a year, half of which will be juniors aged under 25, which translates into a net creation of 14,000 new jobs for this age bracket at the close of 2011. For every 100 young people that banks recruit on permanent contracts, at least 15 come from the sandwich-course pipeline.

Given this outlook, University Institute of Technology?Corsica’s LP Banking training focuses not just on becoming fully conversant with bank products and services but on developing bank insurance-model sales techniques. It aims to train sales engineers in marketing to the retail banking sector. This training programme has been engineered in partnership with the bank networks that have the strongest foothold in Corsica, i.e. Crédit Agricole, Caisse d'Epargne Provence Alpes Corse, Le Crédit Lyonnais, Crédit Mutuel Méditerranée, Banque Populaire Provençale et Corse.

The LP banking sandwich course is a novel degree-level university diploma that is vocationally-oriented and optimized through the partnership between University Institute of Technology?Corsica, the CFPB [French banking academy] and the university-based CFA [apprentice training college].

The overarching objective is to vocationally train client managers and client services advisors in the retail banking sector.

Completing the “field” training progressively acquired out in the host bank, the course training delivered by the University Institute of Technology?Corsica and the CFPB  is designed give formal mastery of the key knowledge and enable students to acquire sector-specialized “know-how”

Training is split across two semesters — September–January and February–June.

It is proposed as a sandwich course scheme with every two weeks from September to June spent on-the-job. The student then stays with the host bank through to the end of the apprenticeship agreement.


University of Corsica diploma in Audiovisual and Cinematography Creation and Technique

The objective of this degree is for students to up-skill their Cinema and Audiovisual craft.

2 majors:

- Major in Specialized techniques: up-skilling in techniques and technologies.
- Major in Screenwriting, Production, Directorship: engage in a first production as writer-director or as producer
This University-issue degree is open to holders of a baccalaureate (or equivalent access to university studies) For the Screenwriting–Production–Directorship major, an undergraduate degree or relevant work experience is preferable, but not required.
The selection process for intake to the University-issue degree course is based on the application submission. Candidates may be called in for interview.

Diploma and certification:

Only students entering with a baccalaureate (or equivalent certificate) and following the entire end-to-end course are eligible to be awarded the diploma.


DUETI — University Degree in International Technological Studies

The DUETI is a university-issue degree validating the path to pursue further post-DUT [university technical diploma] education abroad at level L3 (Bachelor’s degree).
L3-grade equivalency is assessed based on the skills and knowledge acquired by a student qualified to technology and vocational training level L3 in an equivalent specialization in France.
As the DUETI is not a Bachelor’s degree, any candidate applying for admission to a year-1 master’s programme in France holding a DUETI will need to go through the French VES [validation of comparable higher education qualifications] procedure.

Any University Institute of Technology?Corsica student who wishes to pursue studies abroad once they have obtained their DUT can enrol with the equivalent DUETI to their branch of study, on condition that they first get signed approval from their head of faculty and from the University Institute of Technology?Corsica International Relations Officer.
